ANIMA MUNDI
The Protagonists
Palermo’s Botanical Garden boasts a priceless plant heritage, a sample of biodiversity built up over the centuries through the planting of trees and essences from every corner of the planet. What not everyone knows, however, is that when the sun goes down, once the gates are closed to the public, the park is populated by a number of beings and presences that, hidden from view during the day, meet up at night to play, talk and interact with each other.
These beings of light have come here hidden among the gnarled trunks, leaves and flowers of exotic plants. Transplanting these cultures into the city also meant importing the cultures, myths and legends that have always populated the forests, prairies and marshes from which they originated. So come and follow Jinn, the true genius loci of the garden, soul of the varied plant system that has formed over the centuries in this corner of the world, on his journey to warn his friends Puch, Yara, Sun, Kurma of the danger that global warming represents for their, and our, survival.
The false Kapok Path
On the False Kapok Path, Jinn will have to allow Puch to escape towards the root of the Ceibe, tree of life for Mesoamerican cultures, before the drying up of the soil.
Puchs' Shelter
It will be up to you to discover where the Puchs have found their refuge along the subsoil of the Garden, at the end of a magical trail.
Dragon's Peak
Continuing along the path, till Dragon's Peak, it will be up to Sun, King of the Apes celebrated by tales throughout the East, to defend the bamboos from the fire of the Dragon generated by the nearby Dracena Draco.
The Clearing of the Flying Roots
In the Clearing of the Flying Roots the life of the little Yaras, Australian aboriginal demons, will be upset by an air storm, which will put their evolutions on the branches of the big ficus to a severe test.
The Nelumbo Swamp
Arriving at the Nelumbo Swamp it will finally be up to Kurma, avatar of Visnu, to recover the sense of communion between living beings and nature, defeating with the help of Jinn the water dragon that threatens its ecosystem. Restoring the lost balance.
World Tree
But our story doesn't end here. You will still have to tune your heartbeat with that of the Anima Mundi and ti cooperate with each other to enter into symbiosis with the World Tree to allow it to rise majestically in order to guard the restored balance. Are you ready to start this journey?
Anima Mundi is about a fifty-minute walk. Put on comfortable shoes and bring a water bottle
Never leave the path of light and let yourself be guided to the next stages by the sounds produced by our creatures.
Pay attention to the signage and to your map to not miss any of this fantastic experience.
Smoking is forbidden and rubbish must be thrown in the special bins placed at the entrance and along the path
